Event Details

Join Owen Charters of CanadaHelps for a morning of social media training.  Learn about how to apply knowledge you already have to online tools and how to build a strategy around integrating these tools to your current initiatives. We’ll tell you the good, the bad and the ugly. We’ll tell you what’s easy, what’s challenging, what you can try for free, and what might not be worth your time.

Everything Old is New Again: The Fundamentals of Fundraising in the Digital World
The game of fundraising and community engagement seems to be constantly shifting. New tools, new trends, new challenges all seem to be vying for attention, and charities are being held to account for every penny spent and every hour worked and volunteered. How do you tie together traditional fundraising with the brave new world of fundraising and campaign-building online? Learn why online giving is an extension of everything you already know, and why most of us could improve both our online and offline fundraising using techniques that are as ‘old as the hills’. Finally, discover why online fundraising actually emphasizes the need for proper and targeted traditional offline fundraising, marketing, and communications.

Rationalizing Social Media: The Cost-Benefit Analysis of Fundraising Through Social Media

They might often be free, but they come with hidden costs – should you use social media tools to engage and fundraise?  Learn how to plan, resource, and budget for social media campaigns. No, we won’t teach you how to tweet, but we will share strategies for social media success, and give you the essential tools for your organization’s own roadmap through the land of blogs, Facebook, Twitter, e-mail campaigns, and other social media.  Find out how to integrate your offline marketing and communication priorities with an online audience, and hopefully, raise more money for your cause.

Please join us for these timely and valuable workshops. Light refreshments will be served.

CanadaHelps is a public charitable foundation and Canada’s only donation website that lets you give online to every Canadian charity. We have proudly facilitated over $130 million in donations to Canadian charities since we started CanadaHelps.org in 2000.

Our mission is to engage Canadians in the charitable sector by providing accessible and affordable online technology to both donors and charities. We strive to promote – and ultimately increase – charitable giving in Canada.

MyCharityConnects is an initiative of CanadaHelps and aims to connect charities to the technology they need to succeed. Our online resource centre is your organization's go-to website for information about online technology. You will find resources about fundraising on Facebook, building better websites, sharing photos on Flickr, blogging, creating engaging e-newsletters, and much more!

Registration is open to registered Canadian charities and non-profits only.

Please note that registration is non-refundable. If you can find someone to take your place, we will allow for substitutions.
